THEY'RE HERE - OUR EGGS HAVE ARRIVED.

Date: 13th Mar 2017 @ 5:21pm

What an EGGCITING day!!!  Our eggs have arrived at long last!

Howard brought:

  • 10 eggs
  • an incubator
  • a brooder
  • sawdust
  • grain

We have to maintain the incubator at 38C and replace the water twice a day. By Wednesday our eggs should be hatching. Before that, we might hear the chicks in the eggs and then they will start pipping. This is when they start to break out of the shell.

We found out that the chicks are born with an 'egg tooth' on their beak. It is used to help them break throught the shell and then it drops off within a day or so.
