I know what you mean! It's so strange working at home like this isn't it? You could try:
1. Do some pentangles first - I've got my family hooked on them - they will help your mind to relax.
2. I like to play some gentle music in the background - sometimes I play George Ezra, but then I just end up singing and dancing (honestly!) so perhaps that's not a good suggestion!
3. Have you tried the online PE session with Joe Wickes? It's live at 9.00 every morning but if you've missed it, it's on youtube - check with your adult that you're OK to go on it.
Let me know if anything works.

Mrs Mc wrote:

Sorry - I meant zentangles - clearly I'm not concentrating very well either! Look on the art page for the video. The PE might help you to burn up some energy!

Mrs Mc wrote:

Have a look on the home learning tab on the Y5 class page - I have included a suggested timetable. For maths and English you need to try and do 40mins - 1 hour each day, but if you are getting stuck, leave it. If it's something we haven't done in class before, you might need an adult at home to help you. When you do your work and for how long will be different for everybody - you don't have to do it all at once and so you shouldn't worry. Each week I will put a list of different activities on the home learning page - these are for the week -PLEASE don't try and do them all in one day and if you don't manage to get them all done, then don't worry. Make sure that you are also doing things like art, PE and 'chillin'. These are very important for our mental health and help us not to worry quite so much. I'm reall pleased that you told me that you were worried about this. i hope this has helped a little. :)

YummyYorkie wrote:

Thanks that really helped I'm doing really well now! just made my Rainbow to put on my window I made it out of zentangles. =)

Mrs Mc wrote:

I am pleased that helped! WOW - your rainbow sounds fantastic - can you take a phot of it and email it to me? Use the school email and it will get to me - I will put it on this blog. So pleased that the zentangles are helping - I'm enjoying doing them! My (20 year old) daughter has made a huge rainbow for our window, it looks great!I'll take a photo of it for you. Take care.

DO NOT WORRY -it's not worth it!! Which maths is bothering you? Is it the work from the video on TWINKL or from the folder you took home? Remember - this is a new way of learning for all of us and it might take us a little while to get it right - so don't stress! Leave the maths and do something else today. Remember, we only need to worry about our KitKats!

Keep chatting on our different blogs - I want to know what you are all doing and if we are feeling a bit fed up, we can cheer each other up. I thought, perhaps when our carterpillars become butterflies, we could draw a butterfly picture and put it in the window to cheer up neighbours? Which maths are you struggling with? Is it the work in the folder or the online work on TWINKL?

We know that these are strange times. Nobody will get in any trouble - just do what you can and make sure that you gat some 'chillin' time, especially with this lovely weather. If it is safe, play in the garden or look for signs of spring around you. Take care and DON'T WORRY

Mrs Mc wrote:

Hello Year 5. What have you all been up to? Yesterday was such a lovely day that I did some gardening. Today I am aching lots! Have you been out in the garden? Look carefully at any flowers that are out - can you remember the parts of the flower we have talked about in claass? Look out for them - they look very different in different flowers. Take care.

Fishman 123 wrote:

Hi Mrs Mc, yesterday I spent my day doing english ( creative writing myth ), maths - first six pages - and did an hour of reading! Today we saw a lot of birds in our garden - long tailed tits, dunnocks and many more outstanding types of birds, we’re going to clean the bird baths and feeders. My MUM wanted to know if you can make a blog about bird watching!

Are you having a wonderful break like me?

Fishman 123 wrote:

I can remember quite a few:
Stamen - both anther and filament
Pollen - male gamete
Ovary - female gamete
Petals - attract bees
Ovule - stores the Ovary
Filament - holds the anther up
Anther - stores the pollen
Sepal* - another name for Ovule, Stigma and style

I’ll find a flower in my garden and try and find all the different parts of it this afternoon.
* another name for this is the pistil.

Mrs Mc wrote:

Hi Fishman! You have just read my mind! I have just been looking at some wildlife websites - I will set a blog up later today and try and include some RSPB links. It sounds like you have been very busy. There are lots of live web chats on youtube - yesterday Steve Backshall was doing a question and answer session. I'll try and put a list of them together, but there's so many that some of them overlap. Keep on birdwatching! :)

How to get emojis
If you have an IPhone there is usually an emoji button on the keyboard. However, if it isn’t there, hold the globe symbol in the bottom left corner of the keyboard. An options menu should appear with the option of emojis.👍🏻

Mrs Mc wrote:

ThaNHS. I can do emojis on my phone now but haven't worked it out for the computer 🐶🐏🐑🐥🐣 put these on just because they are cute!

I’ve sent you my platypus homework and I’m going to send you the kangaroo homework and my ancient myth homework. I helped to make scones, they were gorgeous. No scone emoji, I’d have put one😭 Enjoying the good weather, I’ve been outside a lot. I’ve also had a fair bit of free time🎮

Mrs Mc wrote:

I haven't set any My Maths and I don't know why it does that - it might just be a default on it. I put the maths homework for the week on the home learning tab but yopu can do any My Maths that you want. I am on my PC - so no emojis - I can only do them on my phone. Keep on cycling :)

Are you enjoying yourself because I am⁉️ The only time I went out was when I went cycling, missing everything that’s not in my house or garden‼️ I don’t think that P.G.L will be on, sadly😭 Soon, it will be my brothers birthday on Wednesday 🎁 Six days after that it will be MY birthday🎁! Happy birthday to me, happy.... Won’t get that many presents, I’ll get more later in the year😤‼️ Feeling very relaxed 😎 I’ll try and do some zentangles🎨

If you did all of them in under a week, the prize was you pick a pudding, I did it in under a day, I picked rose cheesecake🍰MMM! Nearly my birthday!🎊🎁🎉🥳

The weather was so nice that we spent a lot ime outside playing games. You will have to make a countdown calendar for your birthday. Your brother will be able to give you lifts everywhere - it'll be great when he can drive and then a few years later, he'll be able to teach you! Enjoy the good weather. I am just to take my dog out for a wlak for my daily exercise. I am very lucky to have lots of fields near me. It has been beautiful these last few days.Take care.

Hi, we were going to transfer my caterpillars to a bigger pot today but they have both already made their chrysalis. Will they still be able to turn into butterflies? Are they ok to stay in the pot that we brought them home in until we let them go?

Mrs Mc wrote:

If you take the lid off very carefully- with the chrysalis still on- you should be able to transfer it to a bigger box/ jar and the butterfly will be fine. The tub will be too small for the caterpillar when it emerges - it does need to move into a jar with some leaves and twigs in it.

Diamond dancer 09 wrote:

Ok thank you I will do that tomorrow. Do the chrysalis need to stay on the lid of the smaller tub or not?

Diamond dancer 09 wrote:

Thank you they are now in a much bigger jar with leaves and twigs.

Mrs Mc wrote:

It should be Ok if you leave the chrysalis attached to the jar.
