2018 is a very special year. It is 100years since World War 1 ended. We have already started to think about the impact of WW1 on St Helens and Eccleston. What stories does your family have about WW1?  Please share your memories with us.

Have a look on the Y5 'History' page. This will link you to the War Graves Commission Database. You might be able to find information about one of your ancesters.

St Julie Remembers

During the week beginning Monday 5th November, the school will be hosting a special week when parents and families will be able to share in the childrens work of remembrance for WW1. If you would like a family member remembered during this week, please download the document 'St Julie Remembers' . Use the soldier outline to record any information. This will be placed in a book of remembrance.

My great, great granddad was gassed by mustard gas in WW1 and was badly injured. After the war ended, he died young because the gas damaged his lungs.

My great, great grandad was in WW1. He was the only soldier from his village to come back alive. He was carried shoulder high down the main street and attended a special service in the village church. But his brother was killed and his name is on the village war memorial.

There's lots of beautiful art work around school to remember WW1. All the children have worked very hard and there is something special in each class.

Today I found out that my great, great uncle, who died in WW1, was only 13 when he joined the army. Lots of children lied about their age so that they cold join-up - usually with their friends.
