Home Learning

If you have to go into self-isolation or lockdown, this page will outline your learning and where to find it.

First of all, keep yourself well. We know that everybody's situation will be different. Some families will have 3 or 4 children and parents all trying to use a computer whilst others will have much easier access. We also know that devices get broken! If you are having problems accessing a computer please contact us as soon as possible.

Subjects

The following subjects are ESSENTIAL and MUST to be covered every (school) day:

  • Maths
  • English
  • Reading

In addition to the above, try and complete tasks set in the following subjects.

  • Science
  • History/ Geography
  • Religion
  • Art
  • Music

Games is an important part of the curriculum and is essential for your physical and mental health. Even in isolation, try and get as much exercise as possible.

I have included a suggested timetable at the bottom of the page.

Websites

The following websites will be used extensively in the setting of work. It is essential that children can access them. Please contact school if passwords have been lost.

The following websites will also be used:

Purple Mash

Charanga

Duo Lingo

Self-isolation

If you are in self-isolation please look on TEAMS. In the FILES section you will find the following folders:

  1. 'Emergency Isolation' folder. This will ensure that children will have immediate access to schoolwork. It is only intended to provide work for the first day of isolation, ensuring that there are no gaps in the learning process.
  2.  'Isolation folder' (dated). This will contain a range of work for the week. Each week a new folder will be added for as long as necessary. As far as possible, the work in this folder will contain work which reflects what is being taught in class that week. Hopefully ensuring as few gaps as possible in learning.

Lockdown

In the event of a lockdown, work will be set for the class via the 'Isolation' folder in TEAMS.

Engagement with learning

We all sincerely hope that we will not be faced with lockdown again. As challenging as this may be, teachers and parents (health permitting) have a responsibilty in ensuring that children are engaging in their learning. in addition to set tasks, please encourage children to participate in class blogs or competitions. Helping to keep a sense of class/ school identity will help to keep children active in their learning but as we know from lockdown, this becomes more challenging over time.  Please contact school if you have any concerns. We will do whatever we can to help but we need to know!

God bless,

Mrs McCahaey
