Home celebration and prayer: A Journey Through Lent
Lent: Walking with Jesus
Lent is a special season in the Church's year when we prepare our hearts for the joy of Easter. During these forty days, we remember Jesus' time in the desert and reflect on His love, sacrifice and faithfulness.
At St Julie Catholic Primary School, we encourage our children to grow closer to God through the three pillars of Lent: prayer, fasting and almsgiving. This is a time to pause, reflect and consider how we can become more like Jesus through our words, actions and choices.
Praying Together at Home
We invite you to set aside a few quiet moments each day to pray as a family. Give thanks for God's many blessings, talk to Him about your day and ask Him to guide you throughout your Lenten journey.
You may like to download our Lenten Colouring Cross. Each day, colour one section and add a picture, prayer or reflection as you think about Jesus and prepare for Easter. By the end of Lent, your cross will be a beautiful reminder of your family's journey with Christ.
Living Lent
Throughout Lent, we encourage our children to:
-
pray each day
-
carry out acts of kindness and service
-
make simple sacrifices
-
support others through charitable giving
-
reflect on how they can follow Jesus more closely
We also encourage families to explore the CAFOD Lent resources and calendar, which offer daily prayers, reflections and activities to help us live out the season of Lent together.
May this holy season be a time of prayer, hope and renewal for all our families as we journey together towards the celebration of Easter.
