Catholic Life at St Julie Catholic Primary School

At St Julie Catholic Primary School, our faith is at the heart of everything we do. We are a welcoming Catholic community where Christ is truly at the centre of our daily lives, guiding our words, our actions and the way we care for one another.

Our Mission Statement is lived out each day as we journey together in the footsteps of Jesus. Through prayer, worship, learning and service, we encourage every member of our school family to grow in faith and share God’s love with others.

Our Gospel values and school values shape who we are. They inspire us to show kindness, compassion, forgiveness and respect, creating a community where everyone is valued, celebrated and supported.

We believe that faith is something we live, not just something we learn about. Our pupils have many opportunities to put their faith into action through prayer, charitable work and service to others. Our action groups help children develop leadership skills while making a positive difference within our school, parish and wider community.

Our Mini Vinnies are an important part of our Catholic Life. They work passionately to support those in need, partnering with charities including Mary’s Meals, The Angel Starfish Project,St Helens Cornerstone Food Bank, Willowbrook Hospice, the SVP and CAFOD. Through their work, our children learn the importance of compassion, generosity and standing alongside those who need our support.

We are proud to have achieved CAFOD’s Live Simply Award, recognising our commitment to caring for creation and responding to the call to be responsible stewards of our common home. Across our school community, we make a difference through initiatives such as recycling uniform, gardening club, and class and family pledges to live more simply and sustainably.

At St Julie Catholic Primary School, we continue to grow as a faith-filled community, inspired by the words and actions of Jesus. Together, we strive to love, serve and care for one another and for the world around us.

Prayer, Worship and Sacramental Life

Prayer and worship are central to life at St Julie Catholic Primary School. Throughout the year, we celebrate the richness of the Catholic Church’s liturgical calendar through whole-school celebrations, class worship, prayer and opportunities to gather as a faith community.

Our children take part in special liturgical celebrations including Advent Parish Service, Christmas celebrations, Lenten reflections, Easter Passion Service and our annual May Procession in honour of Mary. We also celebrate saints’ feast days and special occasions throughout the year, helping pupils to understand the lives of those who have followed Jesus before us.

Our strong partnership with our parish is an important part of our Catholic identity. We regularly join together for parish Masses and welcome opportunities to worship alongside our parish community. This connection helps our children experience that they are part of a wider family of faith.

Sacramental preparation is an important part of our journey of faith. Throughout the year, children are supported in preparing for the Sacraments through prayer, reflection and learning. Our pupils celebrate the Sacrament of Reconciliation through First Confession in December and continue their journey towards receiving their First Holy Communion in May, supported by school, families and parish.

At St Julie Catholic Primary School, we aim to ensure that our faith is not only something we learn about, but something we experience and live each day — growing together as disciples of Jesus and sharing his love with others.
