Catholic Social Teaching

At St Julie Catholic Primary School, Catholic Social Teaching is at the heart of who we are and how we live out our faith. Rooted in the Gospel and inspired by the life and teachings of Jesus, it guides us to act with love, compassion and justice, recognising the dignity of every person and our responsibility to care for God’s creation.

Through prayer, worship, learning and action, our children explore the principles of Catholic Social Teaching and discover how their faith calls them to make a positive difference in the world. They learn about the importance of human dignity, the common good, solidarity, stewardship and having a special concern for those who are vulnerable or in need.

From our youngest children onwards, pupils are encouraged to understand that Catholic Social Teaching is something we live every day. In EYFS and Key Stage 1, our animal mascots help introduce these important values in an age-appropriate way, supporting children to recognise kindness, friendship, care for creation, fairness and helping others.

As children progress through school, they develop a deeper understanding of how they can respond to the needs of others through acts of service, charity and social action. Our pupils put their faith into practice through fundraising, community projects and supporting charities including CAFOD and other local organisations.

Through our commitment to Catholic Social Teaching, we encourage our children to become compassionate, responsible and active members of society. Inspired by the example of Jesus, they learn that even small actions of love and kindness can help to build a more just and caring world.
